ICU Data Expert
NEXUS Personalized Health Technologies is an ETH Technology Platform created to enable and accelerate the execution of translational research projects by providing key technological resources, tools and collaboration opportunities for the personalized health research community. For our dynamic and international team in Zurich we are recruiting an ICU Data Expert to commence immediately.
Project background
You will be involved in two consortium projects focusing on patients in intensive care units.
The Swiss National Data Stream “Personalized, data-driven prediction and assessment of Infection related outcomes in Swiss ICUs (IICU)” combines clinical- and data-driven approaches to improve assessment, characterization and outcome prediction in critically ill patients with severe infections. You will be involve in the data management, quality control, and harmonization of clinical data from the participating hospitals.
The clinical trial ML4ICU aims to bring AI-based support tools to the ICU bedside to assist healthcare professionals in effectively detecting critical patient changes while reducing information overload and alarm fatigue. These tools are designed to integrate information from a multitude of monitoring systems over time to offer a far more comprehensive representation of the patient’s actual state and trajectory in the near future. .
Job description
- Data management, quality control, and harmonization of clinical data from Swiss hospitals.
- Implementation of AI-based support systems into clinical practice in the ML4ICU trial.
The position is fixed term for one year with the prospect of renewal. Project-funding ends after 3 years.
Your profile
You are passionate about clinical science and translational research and you have:
- a PhD in computer science, data science, or a related field,
- experience in biomedical research projects involving intensive care unit data,
- demonstrated experience in developing early alarm systems and efficient ML methods for large ICU data,
- experience with ICU data preprocessing, artefact removal, and data preparation for ML algorithms,
- solid programming skills in Python, knowledge of R, as well as experience with HPC and version control,
- experience communicating results to physicians,
- and excellent communication skills in English.
