Biomedical Data Manager

NEXUS Personalized Health Technologies is an ETH Technology Platform created to enable and accelerate the execution of translational research projects by providing key technological resources, tools and collaboration opportunities for the personalized health research community. For our dynamic and international team in Zurich we are recruiting a Biomedical Data Manager to commence immediately or by mutual agreement. 

Project background

From data to publication – our team enables researchers to access state-of-the-art methods from bioinformatics, statistics, and software development to gain actionable insight into patient-centric diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. NEXUS collaborates with various academic institutions and hospitals, both national and international. Our projects are typically in a biomedical research setting, ranging from basic NGS analyses to data management, clinical decision support and reporting. 

Job description

Your primary focus will be the management of data generated in biomedical research projects. This includes the implementation of policies for effective and efficient data management, the collection and quality control of biomedical data from various sources. As well as design and implementation of efficient and secure data management procedures, along with documentation and technical support for life scientists.

Your profile

You are passionate about clinical science and translational research and you have:

  • an MSc in bioinformatics or a related field
  • experience in biomedical research projects involving molecular data sets
  • solid programming skills in Python, shell scripting, and Java Script
  • experience with HPC and version control
  • attention to detail
  • and excellent communication skills in English
  • Familiarity with RDF, ontologies, and Graph Databases is a plus
